New York Fashion Week F/W 2012: Lela_Rose

Lela Rose

After enduring the long line dynamic that comes along with the Fashion Week scene, I found myself second row at the Lela Rose A/W 2012 show, how happy was I…too happy! The room was filled to capacity as most members of the audience, were literally forced to stand in order to view the show. With a punctual arrival and great music to set the mood as the lights shifted to an ivory white shade, I knew Lela Rose’s collection would definitely entertain.

Lela Rose’s A/W 2012 collection was beautifully crafted while maintaining elegant simplicity. Most of the collection included patterns and different fabric combinations, which added a sense of diversity and versatility to the collection. With the use of mid-tone colors, the collection deviated from the warm yet dull colors that usually assist the A/W fashion scene. The collection includes linear designs, geometric patterns and even a piece with a copper orange base with industrial metal grey brush strokes sporadically placed throughout the dress. It was then when I noticed Lela’s architectural influence.

More than I happy I received an honorary second row seat no, I believe ecstatic is the word. In my opinion, Lela Rose is one of the most conscious designers of today’s generation and has proved that her simple designs and cohesive collections are filling a void in fashion that only she can adhere too. I enjoyed the collection, and with the most critical eye could not spot one negative thing about Ms. Rose’s collection. Truly elegant.
