Today I begin with a designer I am not at all familiar with, but given today’s collection that will definitely change.  Jenny Packham’s collection really captures the idea of elegance in a clear, distinct way. Packham’s pieces all hold an airy, free-flowing appearance that resents restriction and weighed down design. Although the pieces were simple, they managed to still portray a sophistication you would find in the most heavily design savvy fashion house.

I admit that the collection at first glance came across very “young”, in the sense of the color scheme and consistent floral aesthetic, which reminded me of my little sister’s closet. But as they say “do not judge a book by its cover”. The floral features used were placed on pieces that proved to show the light, graceful feel I mentioned earlier.  Packham’s focus seemed to lie in the below the waist features of the dress pieces, where the most activity belong to this area. For instance, the collection includes a white dress, infused with banana yellow highlights, creating both a mystical look while   presenting maturity.  Another piece utilizes lace in both the short and blouse, where the floral print is used in corresponding placement.

Some critics can say that Packham’s collection lacks creativity, but in some instances this can have a positive result. Jenny Packham’s designs do seem to target the more younger audience, but still reserves enough flair to satisfy the thirty or over audience.  Ultimately, Packham has created this season a very honest clean approach to women’s wear. Sometimes you just have to keep it simple.
