I confess, I am obsessed with designer Rebecca Taylor and jumped at the opportunity to cover her show for Spring 2012. By the looks of the jam-packed seating, I am not the only lady in this town who shares those sentiments (seated in Taylor’s front row were Whitney Port, Jordana Brewster, Ashley Tisdale, Louise Roe and Sophia Bush.) And so, we all waited and waited for the lights to dim and when they did, a good 45 minutes post schedule, I was surprised at what was displayed in front of me.
If the wrap-dress is classic Diane Von Furstenberg, flirty and flowing floral-patterned frocks and tops are classic Rebecca Taylor. However, this year’s ultra-feminine took on a modern twist right down to spruced up remixes of 80’s and 90’s techno dance music.

The New Zealand-born designer, who always aims to deliver styles that make women feel happy and sexy, achieved just that by delivering an unexpected collection that consisted of snake skins and other glitzy fabrics like satin, sequins and chiffon, the textures of the season.

Bold, citrus colored tops and skirts, reminiscent of Fruit Stripe gum (for those of you who remember it), in lime, tangerine and citron were so juicy, the audience (well, most of the audience) ate them up.

Amidst it all, Ms. Taylor still managed to deliver a semblance of airy and delicate couture to die-hard fans, and for all her young professional female fans there were plenty of day-to-date night pieces that will give them that edge and flair.
