Vera Wang known primarily for her wedding dresses so much that one wonders is it possible for a wedding dress star to make clothing beyond the biggest day for many adult women’s lives. Clearly Vera had that answer in spades. She did separates, sportswear, dresses and gowns, all consistent in content and very Vera and being executed precisely to a tailored T that is as complicated yet simple as the perfect wedding gown which obviously has helped Vera define who she is as a designer.
The expertly folded white summer jacket, the perforated skin baring tshirt, and the strong hued Citrus colours infused into this collection were all winners. The innovative backward ambiguous suspended dresses, to the sheer sleeveless hoodies that gave way to delicate swimwear pieces all gave a certain integrity to the collection that would have other wise went unexpected.
I love that the brand that is Vera Wang although deep in clientele and history, doesn’t allow itself to be pegged down by the season before or by any of the other brands that maybe subsidiaries of the larger brand. While you wouldn’t see some of the embellishments and design ideas of the VW ready to wear in her bridal collection, the refinement and tailoring and seamless’ness of details is clearly prevalent and came from somewhere and that’s years of learning and growing. Most definitely a collection that was worth seeing, as well as a designer worth watching for years and seasons to come.
