It is my second season covering the Perry Ellis show, and I could see that Spring 2012 was perfectly geared for the All American jet-setting guy. Think Camelot chic meets easy breezy Kennebunkport outerwear with nice-to-see usage of the color palette, in shades of blush pink, burnt orange and sun-kissed yellow that highlighted  next season’s wardrobe collection with an essential array of neutrals for everyman.

Thoughts of sunsets, sand and the promise of Summer romance seeped through my mind as I previewed the collection of light knit cable-cardigans, fresh linen Capri trousers and patterned shorts. Jackets came in all guises from windbreakers to safari jackets, right down to plaid blazers.

And for the cherry on top (for me), the models vaulted down the runway in the final act showcasing their steel abs and swim trunks (last season it was their skivvy’s) in various shades and prints.

Perry Ellis creative director John Crocco nailed it by designing a  savvy line of pieces for the on the go yet budget-conscious man. Now let’s just hope all you guys out there use it!
