DKNY Women’s S/S 2012
The DKNY Women’s Spring/Summer 2012 collection has actually left me speechless. I am a huge Donna Karan/DKNY fan and the debut of her new collection did not disappoint. The runway was set up outside on W 26th St. in New York with an actual taxi parked in front with the DKNY ad appropriately mounted atop. With random onlookers perched across the street to get a peek at the show, the whole scenario made for an extremely dramatic setting. The lights dimmed and the first model enters from the street!
The theme of this collection is feminine and sleek! The pieces are quite elegant, flattering the body with simple cuts, loose fits, and vibrant colors. Bright purple, red, and blue were dominant color choices and were used not only as solids but also in bold prints and patterns. Silks, sequins, and cottons, were some of the chosen fabrics. The dresses fell just above the knee or just above the ankle and were flowing and light. Suit jackets were slightly structured and fitted and complimented the shape of the body.
The accessories were well styled. Sexy wedge sandals and large floppy, wide-brimmed hats matched every ensemble. Small clutches, a sexy waist purse, or over sized handbags with matching bold prints were added to complete several outfits. Overall, the entire collection was cohesive, dramatic and sophisticated.
