Today’s journey has brought us upon the beauty of Luca Orlandi, and his nostalgic work. Reminiscent of a late forties gala, the show by Luca Luca was a great sight, as their Spring/Summer collection resurrected many motifs, of past fashion forward women. The presentation was held in the “Stage” where spacious area, and exceptional use of bright light, set the mood for the show, leaving the audience on the edge of their seat for a breath of fresh air. With a white backdrop, and Luca Luca written in gold lettering, the show’s décor illustrated the regal international ascetic the line is known for. Okay, enough about how great the background were, I will pick up my jaw and drool to paint the picture Luca Luca created this morning.
Spring must represent colorful bliss and pattern twists to Luca Luca’s creative director Raul Melgoza, as the collection embraced bright colors and strong, but creative design. As you guys can tell I am a color guy, and the most important connection between a designer and their work is the color texture of their art. The models’ were dressed with luminous lipstick in various shades of red, which allowed the natural shade of their skin, to enhance the vivid hues, of the pieces within the collection. The compilation truly depicts the relationship between the models, and clothing as each factor needs the other to pull off the right look. Okay, I may have gotten caught up in color, as I always do but who could not. Along with Luca Luca’s color coördination, their design features were exceptional as well. From a silk pant and blouse duo with colorful rosette pattern, to a turquoise dipped blazer, marked by dark navy vertical lines that meet on the jacket’s lapel. True to the nostalgic nature of the show, the use of polka dot was not unexpected, but with a help of shortened arm length and diamond chest design, an edgy flair was created. .
True to Miek Vercouteren words, “The sensuality and femininity of a strong woman” this year’s ready to wear Spring/Summer collection represented just that. The pieces strayed away from the silhouette, and overuse of silk (it was fairly used) that is found during the dog days of summer. Luca Luca provides a classy, but vibrant alternative to popular pieces of the strong woman, such as the tuxedo dress, which was also beautifully made. Raul Melgoza has definitely stepped to the plate this year in my opinion. Sort of makes me want to be a female…nope not as much.
