I am one of the few who didn’t go take of advantage of going out of business deals at Circuit City. However, as I was passing the now defunct store in Union Square (NYC) I realized that an era was over.
I took a brief moment to pause and think about how I used to go to the Downtown Compton Circuit City as a child with my grandmother. Or how I purchased a SD card from the Beltsville, MD one 2 years ago….
Circuit City was really over priced… but for some strange reason I always ended up at one browsing and/ or window shopping.
Now Circuit City falls in the field of battle along with Zoddies, May Company, and all those other stores you remember as a child coming up.
*pours a little Slurpee out for the stores who aren’t here*
In parting, am I the only one who is surprised K-Mart is still in business?! lollll

I loved Circuit City, it was always my preferred store over Best Buy… and I didn’t think they were really over priced, compared to places like 6th ave electronics & such. To me they were average until places like Walmart came alone and began to sell things for super cheap… did I ever mention I hate Walmart!!
awww, so sad to see them go, oh well off to Best Buy
I loved Circuit City. And I am surprised that KMart is still around. They closed a huge number of stores a few years ago and I actually thought that it was “just a matter of time”… Go figure.
Maaaaaan when I was in college in Richmond, Virginia I would often stop in the Circuit City near my apartment and buy cd’s (as a hobby!). I had built up a great cd collection because of CC. R.I.P!!!
I am still not sure how Kfart (what I call Kmart… my son thinks it is funny) is still open. I do not even shop there…nothing ever seems worth it…like a crappy version of Walfart (another funny for my kid…lol.)
Circuit City most likely was not doing as great as its competitor Best Buy. The Best Buy around here is always busy…at least the parking lot seems to be brimming when I either pass or go there.
Yes, I’m shocked that K-Mart is still in business considering Wal-Mart and Target have super competitive prices.
I did happen to buy something at Circuit City right before it went out of business. The funny thing is that it didn’t really seem like a great deal! LOL Very nice blog btw.
I loved The Wiz when I was younger. Now that was the place to be.
Btw, nice meeting you at the circus yesterday!
