MBNYFW F/W 2012: Venexiana

Official Website

In the words of Rachel Zoe, “I’m having a [Venexiana] heart attack right now!” I seriously get chills thinking about this show. Of course, the Venexiana show was graced by many celebs like, Beverly Johnson, Alex McCord and Simon van Kempen from the RHONY, Miss USA Alyssa Campanella, Miss Teen USA Danielle Doty, Miss Universe Leila Lopes, Model Mia Kang, and more. But the garments that appeared on the runway were, by far, the biggest stars of the evening.

Kate Stern’s Fall/ Winter collection can be summed up in one word, glamorous. Everything from the chosen color pallet all the way to the aesthetics, this collection screamed enchantment. I love the fact that her color pallet was essentially the entire rainbow; she used rich hues of gold, turquoise, orange, silver, pink, black, red, and plenty of green. She also used luxurious fabrics such as silk, organza, chiffon, tulle and lace, setting the tone that the collection was nothing less of couture providing a many looks of sophistication and class. The gowns were adorned in a variety of embellishments, like fur, lace, floral patterns, feathers, crystal and sequined details and mesh. Gowns boasted tulle tiers, pleats, lace overlays, fringe and brocade, in an array of silhouettes. The garments seen were an array of floor length gowns, gowns with corset tops, above-the-knee cocktail dresses, one-shoulder dresses, puff sleeves, and fur cape-jacket tops and shawls.

I appreciated the fact that the entire collection of very glamorous gowns were also very versatile and could be worn to many different important events, suiting women of all ages. The vibe I felt from the show was old Hollywood; from the make-up and hair styles on the models, to the accessories worn that accentuated the garments. Not to mention the way Kate Stern paired gowns with fur, the crowd (myself included) could not contain themselves. Overall, this show was exemplified what stunning and bold mean in the fashion world and Venaxiana Fall/Winter 2012 collection is definitely in my fabu-yes category!
