The anticipated Mara Hoffman collection brought out many of New York’s elite, from MTV’s Whitney Port, Olivia Palermo, celebrity stylist June Ambrose, ANTM’s Nigel Barker and Ms Jay, and many more. Since Kelly Cultrone’s, Peoples Revolution, organized the show, I honestly was not surprised that many A-Listers were in attendance. And to add icing on the cake, I was able to catch a glimpse of Kelly staying true to her dominant TV personality, because I got to see her toss a few people out of the front row.

I have to say that I truly enjoyed this collection, it was full of many Aztec prints, blanket stripes, and intarsia knits. Although it was a Fall/Winter collection, the collection gave the impression of a fairly warm upcoming season, due to the fact that there were many plunging necklines, maxi dresses, and light weighted fabrics. There of course were some heavier pieces in the collection, like a woolly basket-weave coat, knit sweaters and a warm, warm looking shawl wrap jacket. The accessories also complemented the garments very well, the models were adorned in wide brim hats, knee high and ankle boots, and gold jewels. I also appreciated the fact that she included some non-traditional fall/winter hues, giving people a chance to pop!

As a whole, Mara Hoffman’s collection was the most wearable collection I got a chance to see at Mercedes Benz New York Fashion Week. It was chic, flirty, fun, and yet it was laid back and appeared very comfortable. Mara Hoffman is known for her global aesthetic, and she completely delivered with this “mid-west” inspired collection.
