Electric Feathers, held its presentation today in the Box section of Lincoln Center and I must say it was quite interesting.  The designer had quite a few new ideas where some might deem it artistically fresh, others might have found it weird.  Me as a stylist looks at a collection a little differently.  If you can walk away from a show with at least three pieces worth a buyers time, then to me there’s cause to celebrate.  And lets be honest, everything isn’t for everyone. This happened to be one of those collections.

There were quite a few shimmery pieces that came complete with the designers take on a new style harem pant which was servery droopy but still wearable if you ask me.  However it had downtown written all over it.  You know the who cares what you think, you cant afford this anyway no matter how cheap you think it looks, look.  Then there was the fresh take on the toga that i found severely bohemian and Dope.  There was also a sleek fitting romper that i though kewl as well as this over sized rust coloured coat.  Now another place that the presentation scored was the styling which to me is just about knowing your customer.  The more voluminous pieces paired with tom like shoes and the amazing eye makeup done with that cat eye that has been seen all over the place which I’m sure to come for a while ala Amy, was simply genius.
While the show may have not been a grand slam for everyone, I can tell the designer stayed true to themselves and their aesthetic.  Also the fabrics that were used, the way hems and layers were cut all read professionalism and a person about their craft which is artistic with direction.  That alone is commendable.  However unless you’re as daring meets risky as a lets say Chloe Sevigny and think you can pull it off, perhaps you should stay in your lane, an unelectric one, with no feathers.
