Vivienne Tam 2012 S/S Live Runway Show 9/10
Vivienne Tam’s 2012 Spring/Summer runway show started off with a bang, with a fierce bright red ensemble with red and white fabric, red and gold heels, and a well-tailored red blazer. I immediately thought that this would set the tone for a vibrant and exciting collection.
The first four ensembles combined bright red with cream from shorts to cropped red pants paired with a breezy blouse with a dainty cream and red print. A light and flowing knee length dress with the same print finished the red theme and the show transitioned to black, cream and denim blue. While the colors were either muted or bright, wild and busy prints and patterns were very dominant in the collection. There were some cropped jackets and basic blazers which were well-tailored. Most dresses fell just above the knee and ranged between flowing and slightly fitted.
Unfortunately, there may have been an overuse of patterns which didn’t always seem to mesh well with all of the paired pieces and were a bit distracting. I didn’t think the collection as a whole was very cohesive, but individually, the pieces were well made and flattering to the body!
