Three words; GLAMOUR – COUTOURE – EXTRODINARY! I don’t even know where to start with this gentleman, all I know is, Raphael Cennamo knows his fashion!
First and foremost there was no better display for this collection than in the box, because it is the only show room that gives you the opportunity to get very close to the pieces, while not in motion; allowing you to see everything. And let me be the first to say that these gowns had no need for movement, had they have been going down a runway it may have possibly taken away from the overall essence of the gowns, yes – they really are that stunning.
I found this collection to be a mixture of different eras and cultures like Baroque, Renaissance, and the Georgian eras, in addition to the traits of Japanese culture; with a modern couture twist. I say that because his hand crafted garments were of luxurious fabrics and extremely detailed with the intricate beading and drapery. The hints of Japanese cultures showed through in this spring 2013 collection, where he referenced kimono silhouettes. His choice of color and fabric also took this collection out of the “good” pile and tossed it toLincolnCenter’s “FAB” pile!
Raphael Cennamo is as extremely talented designer with a very tasteful aesthetic. His collection of Kimono styled gowns to intricate beading to beautiful drapery in this spring/ summer 2013 collection, certainly pleased.
