Juneteenth: The Day The Slaves were Freed

I feel it is my responsibility as an African-American to comment on this holiday.  From what I hear, it’s not socially acceptable to comment on slavery.  I think this is the one topic we all are supposed to ignore.

I come from a long line of Madison’s; direct decedent’s of President James Madison.   My ancestors were his “PROPERTY”… unfortunately he didn’t live long enough to hear my ancestors say FUCK YOU on the way out the door.   That information has been passed down within my family from generation to generation. Not many blacks know who the owner’s of their ancestor’s were.  It’s not really a benefit; it just makes it harder to not be angry because you have a face.

Juneteenth is a day to acknowledge those who didn’t have a voice.  Those who were kidnapped, tortured, molested, raped, sodomized, hung, beaten, ENSLAVED, and worst of all their identities and culture erased!

I don’t hate white’s… through God I am taught to love and to forgive. Hell, I am a successful, young, black woman… what do I have to be mad @ whites about?!  I am living the American Dream.  Then again, I am living the AMERICAN dream… I wonder what the dreams of my ancestors were?!

Change begins with the seed of vision planted into the mind of a hard head.
