General Idea Runway Spring/Summer 2012

While Bumsuk Choi is known for geometric shapes and bold prints, his Spring/Summer 2012 collection appears to have been kept relatively simple yet edgy.   The collection is filled with color with an emphasis on bright orange, which is the recurring theme in almost every piece.

With a strong military influence, jackets and outerwear are structured with oversized pockets with color palettes of khaki greens, and naturals.  Shorts were also a prominent force in Choi’s collection and varied in length falling just above the knee or mid-thigh.

I was excited to see where very few patterns or prints were used; color seemed to take its place with turquoise blues, military greens, bright and muted corals and some black and navy.  While bright coral and orange were bold fabric color choices, they were also used for pops of color in the neutral or dark ensembles by way of a thin belt, a sleek tie or lace-up resort style shoes.  Overall, the collection has great pieces that will mesh well with most hip and contemporary wardrobes.
