Kitty’s #BlogHer11 Recap: Day 1

Once upon a time, there was a full-fledged woman [honey] named, QUEEN The Kitty Bradshaw, who lived in a land called, “The Concrete Jungle”.  One day there was a summons for all the QUEENS from the various IP addresses to come fourth for a conference, The Royal BlogHer11.

QUEEN The Kitty Bradshaw emailed thy royal travel agent, Price Line, and embarked upon a long journey across country to a land called, The San Diego. The San Diego, established more than 10,000 years ago is a coastal town known for its year-round mild weather.  Basically, you can visit The San Diego in the middle of January or the end of August, and the weather is always the same… BEAUTIFUL!!!!!  QUEEN The Kitty Bradshaw basked in the warm weather like it was the very first time.

So anyhow (officially out of my storybook mode) I packed my suit cases complete with my Invitation Consultants Blogger Luggage Tags that I received just a few hours before my departure.  I flew on Delta, which is always a disappointment to say the least.  My hotel room at the Hard Rock was sponsored by ShopAtHome.com.

ShopAtHome.com is one of the largest websites offering free online coupons, grocery coupons, cash back rewards, free samples, restaurant coupons and contests.  The site is unique from other online deal sites because it gives cash back to shoppers for purchases made through ShopAtHome.com.

On Thursday, August 4th, I attended my very first BlogHer11 event, The Big Toy Book’s Sweet Suit Event hosted by, The Toy Insider and Kid Vuz. This event featured several toy manufacturers including Kre-o, Hex Bugs, Skylanders Spyro’s Adventure games, and X-Box to name a few.

This event was well-organized and a huge success! I had such a wonderful meeting with the various toy brands, and interacting with the top Mommy Blogger’s from across the country.  Additionally, during the event Blogger’s got to create custom Shainsware jewelry to take home.  Upon exiting, Blogger’s took home gift bags filled with toys for all ages.

My next event was the hugely popular “Kiss Our Sass” Event hosted by Jamie, Match.com, and Melysa.  Sponsors included:

@Match, @CrumbsBakeShop, @GlueDots, Invisibelts, @BootyWraps, @SingleMommyhood @SingleMomSeekin, @PopChips, @Luxnaturals, Mary’s Gone Crackers, @Corazonas, Earnest Eats, @OhMiBod, @DrinkMercy, Tholian Web Publishing, @CitySlips, @SensaWeightLoss, @LilBlackRobot, Star 50 Handbags, @SimplyAlive, @Dadandblog, @MerryPad, @MariaMurnane, Lovely Photo Booths, @IndieVinos, @HappyHealthyHip, @SingleEdition

This event was completely different from The Big Toy Event, as this crowd represented the Single and/or Relationship Bloggers.  We spent our time networking, taking pictures in the Lovely Photo Booth, and sipping on cocktails from the Float Bar at the Hard Rock Hotel.

During this time I got to hang out with my favorite California Blogger, BusyBeeBlogger who came equipped with her 5 inch pumps and business cards.  Together we worked around the room meeting our peers, discussing relationships and Blogging.  I walked away feeling inspired to not only learn from my dating mistakes, but to also make a living off of them by discussing them openly.

Also, in attendance were a few couples who met their spouses on Match.com.  I am actually jaded on the whole internet dating thing… but it was great to see people who actually made it work to their benefit.  OFF SUBJECT: I would like to note that the Match.com Reps looked like they could be models *shrugs* maybe they are lollll.

All-in-All my first night at BlogHer11 was everything I had expected and more.  Whenever one pays for a conference, you often wonder if you are getting your monies worth.  Based on my initial experience I was glad I made the decision to come.
