When I recollect on Timo Weiland’s Spring/ Summer 2013 collection, I keep hearing Thin Lizzy’s, The Boys Are Back In Town. The reason being that Timo Weiland showed, not only are they back but they’re here to stay.
This collection to me was a modern sophisticated twist on “The Greasers’ from S.E. Hinton’s, The Outsiders. The collection and laid back, and I appreciated that. I also could appreciate the fact that they did the unexpected, by doing the expected, if that makes sense. No? Let me break it down, each season, most of us expect designers to push the limit on the unexpected trends and designs for next years garments; making onlookers already expect something completely outrageous. Since Timo Weiland did not do that (for me), which made their approach unexpected because it was so general. There were combinations of large herringbone prints, and fitted women’s trousers, high waist wide leg trousers, floor length dresses and skirts, hooded sweatshirts, and more. The color pallet consisted of neutral hues like white, navy, forest green, yellow, sand, black, tan, turquoise, and grey.
Overall, I liked the collection; I appreciated it for its simplicity and it being true to the ‘Ready to Wear’ label.
