Debuting for the first time ever at Mercedes Benz New York Fashion Week in LincolnCenter, Nina Skarra introduced her Eco friendly spring 2013 collection.

This collection has been inspired by fond memories of my stylish mother, my grandmother and their wardrobes”, stated, designer, Nina Skarra. “It incorporates the roaring twenties, symbolizing both my grandmother’s fun and rebellious youth, as well as St Tropez in the 1960’s, where my mother spent time as a model. The Spring/Summer 2013 collection brings together inspiration not only from their closets, but also from their personalities, sense of style, natural grace and desire for quality.” -prweb.com

Not only did this collection bring natural grace figuratively, it did so literally; it also brought about an essence of purity to the runway. It was very “Of Age Ice Princess” to where the pieces were so innocent and beautiful while still being sexy chic.  From the use of the neutral/ pastel color pallet of pink, grey, ice blue, ivory, white, taupe, sand, navy blue, champagne, and rose; over beautiful luxurious fabrics such as silk, silk crepe, jersey, organza, and wool, to the overall execution of the show.

Overall, I would grade this show a B+, although her pieces were beautiful, simplistic and sexy, I honestly felt that it was something that we (the public) have seen before. This collection just needed a little bit of, KUNG – POW, to it just to really grab us, slap us, and let us know the deal.
