Celebrity chefs gathered in Vanderbilt Hall of Grand Central Terminal for the World’s Largest Bake Sale on March 29, 2011. The event was hosted by Sandra Lee of the Food Network who has committed to raising $50,000 for the Food Bank of New York. Lee’s collaboration with Mario Batali (Eataly), Lidia Bastianich (various restaurants), Emeril Lagasse (BAM!) and Rosanna Scotto (Del Posto) made the event possible.
The fundraiser was sponsored by Pyrex® and featured delectable savory baked goods and frozen desserts from 30 of the most well-respected chefs and restaurants in New York. Lucky attendees buzzed on their sugar-highs and the comforting embrace from brownies, cookies, breads… and all for a great cause! And the event was a smashing success. Scheduled to take place from 11am to 7pm, by 4pm there were no more than 4 vendors remaining; baking trays were bare, everything else was sold out!

Kudos to hostess, Sandra Lee, who remained long after the bake sale was over to talk to her fans and pose for countless photos.
