Terrance Howard Can NOT Sing!

August 26, 2008

So anyways I’ve been hitting up my free concert series around New York and I unknowingly stumbled upon Terrance Howard. Everyone was at City Hall Park in NYC last Thursday night asking the same question before his performance, “What does he do?!” I didn’t know what to expect but I kinda wish he would of stuck to Three 6 Mafia ghost writing and him rapping… *sigh* but alas Terrance came out dressed like Steve Harvey doing his best impression of Joni Mitchel and Simon & Garfunkel… singing folk songs. Now never mind the fact that we were at the R&B concert free series.

So dude took an hour to get on stage, then instead of going right into song he breaks out this 15 minute monologue setting us up for the song. The reason why I say monologue is because it came off sounding fake and rehearsed which answered the question why he didn’t win the Oscar. So once young Mercutio was done setting us up for the FAILURE of the song he was about to perform he commenced to singing.

Imma tell yall straight… imagine him talking to music. Imagine him holding a conversation over a beat… and that sums up Terrance Howard’s singing. Now every now and then his cockiness as a person would implore him to hit a higher note and he would crack… then make excuses like “there was feedback” while in the middle of the song! He did that several times throughout the set.

Kitty says: Terrance… I have never in my life heard someone stutter during a song… or a newcomer who is so full of themselves that they feel like since they make a couple of movies they are doing the audience a favor by performaning on stage. Terrance you need to humble yourself first, then go back to acting.

Now every thunder cloud has a silver lining and Terrance Howard’s band was awesome “The band of Kings”! His band needs to drop him and get another lead singer. Oh, one more thing, as I was sitting there watching this I was wondering who writes his lyrics because they weren’t quite clear. They were a combination of rewritten quotes I’ve heard before. I find out the next day he writes his own songs. SMH…

Aiight here is a snippet of the concert. This was his first song, the best… most likely because he performs this one the most. Now keep in mind this was after an hour of waiting…

when I get home from work imma put Michelle Williams on the chopping block…
