There will be no fare hikes taking place in 2012 (don’t get too comfortable they will be back in 2013 and 2015). The MTA said they will earn their money honestly by cutting staff cell phones, company vehicles, sharing office equipment, and freezing union wages. Well, no surprise to anyone the MTA fares are going up yet again. They seem to go up once every six months and I keep asking myself what in the hell does the MTA do with its money. New York City Transit on my MIND!!!
I am slightly mad at New York City Transit (MTA). I accidentally bent my metro card and the fare terminal wouldn’t read my card. I purchased my train pass in the month of October and had about $10 or $12 dollars on the card. I took the card to the station manager and his machine couldn’t read it either, so he gave me the MTA brochure and told me to mail the card in to the address on the back.
