"Cultivate your curves - they may be dangerous but they won't be avoided." -- Mae West

So, starting on April 1, parade organizers will have to trim the fat by25% ! In addition, they can’t be longer then 5 hours. Less floats, less public drunkenness, less rainbows and Irish Beer!  This will help save the city $3.1 million a year.

Bill de Blasio, public advocate was quoted saying: “I have marched in many parades, and many of them could be shortened without losing their value or meaning,” he said Monday. “We need to make cuts, and this seems to be a good way at reducing overtime.”

Kitty says: New York City seems to be the most bankrupt city in the world.  First, the subways, now this.  When I think of NY, I think of the parades.  Eventually the things that makes New York City so magical, will fade away due to budget cuts.

Question: What do you all think about the New York parades being cut down?  Do you even care? loll

This will hurt my two favorite parades really hard, because they are so large – the Puerto Rican Day Parade and the Gay Pride Parade. Don't they realize how much money the city makes from people coming to NYC to see those parades?!?
