I’m An Official New Yorker Today!!!!!!
My New York State ID came today… I am official yall!!!! Moving to New York was my dream come true. It took a lot to get here, and even more not to give up and move back to Los Angeles.
New York is a jungle… survival of the fittest for real! I only cried twice, but I hung in there and I waited till I was sure I wanted to stay before going to apply for my ID.
In the last 356 days, I have learned the difference between Uptown and Downtown, and a Bodega and a Deli. I learned that New Yorkers don’t like to give addresses when giving directions, and they feel they have the best of everything.
I really like it here… I get teary talking about the struggle to get here. My recommendation for people wanting to move here are to make sure you have your shit together before making the move. Also, have some street smarts as well as book smarts.
