Hey House Cats-
I love, Love, LOVE my new OXO GG 4 CUP FAT SEPARATOR (bka Measuring Cup)!!!! I swear I am not exaggerating. Ok, so I was in desperate need of a measuring cup. The Powers that Be at Best Buy WOLF must have known little Kitty in the Kitchen needed to refrain from using coffee cups and picnic cups to measure, lolll. I know I know…. crazy, right?! So anyways as I explained on Twitter… I went to the 99 cent store and purchased the wrong type of measuring cup. The one that I got measures in liters?! I was so mad at myself for picking it up in error… I refused to go buy another one. So imagine my surprise when I received my gift bag at the Best Buy WOLF event…. and a top of the line measuring cup sprang out!!!!!! Like this is the Rose Royce of measuring cups… I am so extremely happy with it!!!!
I guess the most common thing I use my measuring cup for is rice. Particularly brown rice. When I pulled my new OXO GG 4 CUP FAT SEPARATOR out of the box, I noticed a couple of attachments. One was the strainer on top, and the other was a stopper. The strainer/ separator does just that… removes juice from product. This would be ideal for maybe chicken broth or when I buy diced tomatoes I like to separate them from the juice in the can. The spout plug prevents juice from escaping.
Suggestion for OXO:
It would be cool if OXO could make an additional attachment for juicing to fit over the measuring cup similar to this. I am wondering if I purchase that, will it fit?! Hmmmmm… The Kitty Bradshaw household loves a big ole glass of fresh squeezed lemonade, lolll.
Kitty in the Kitchen:
So I used my OXO GG 4 CUP FAT SEPARATOR to make Meatballs in Red Wine Reduction Sauce over String Beans and Brown Rice. I outdid myself on this day. I, first seasoned the meatballs in sea salt and black pepper. Next, I allowed the Meatballs to have a spa day in the red wine for 6 hours. They basked in my favorite Canyon Road, Cabernet Sauvignon 2010. Then, I grilled them in light olive oil and about a cup of Red Wine and let it simmer and reduce down until done. The veggies were boiled and the rice was prepared in my pressure cookers (utilizing my OXO GG 4 CUP FAT SEPARATOR of course). Once all the elements were complete… I layered them and poured the gravy on top. Below is the finished product.
