Habana Outpost: Purple Rain Recap

September 9, 2008

I just want to say I had a wonderful time Sunday night at Habana Outpost. Initially I wanted to have a bloggers Meet n Greet but due to internet malfunctions and last minute communication on my part, I wasn’t able to organize as well as I had hoped.

I did get to meet one new person; Mir of http://aheadcase.blogspot.com/. She is a Los Angeles native just like myself who migrated to Brooklyn. Check out her site!

As you all know, Habana Outpost hosted the end of summer Purple Rain party and not only did they show the movie they started off the night with a Prince concert. The audience participation was amazing… we all sang along to not only my daddy Prince, but Morris Day and the Time as well. Words can not express how much I love Prince… and last night Habana Outpost helped the summer of ‘08 end on a perfect note.

I met some very cool people this summer at the Outpost, starting with William and Sister Toldja (winner of the Black Blogger’s Award for Best Personal Blog as well as nominee for Best Writing.)… I met another dude by the name William who happened to be a stalker… he called me 17 times over a 4 day period, smdh. I met Elvis the manager who happens to be a fantastic Graphic Designer… so much so he doesn’t get out of bed for less then 6 figures. Elvis makes the magic happen! I met Eric the Wall Street Trader who is trying convince me to go into the trading business… which reminds me I need to ask him if he has had the pleasure of eating the $600 hamburger. I met Jay who visited my site and showed love. I met Shoey du Jour the night before we met up at Habana Outpost. *thinkin* I can’t remember the rest of the peoples names but *shrugs* they were special too.

Dr. Zee flew in from Los Angeles to watch Flash Gordon with her Fiancee Mr. Flowers of the Bronx.

Nish finally made it down to the Outpost with her friend… can’t remember his name but he is a nude photographer, lollll.

We will be back next week for “Beat Street”… but as far as I am concerned Summer is now officially over! Now that fall is here… I need to find me a sports bar where I can watch football at and meet new Fall season friends.

Special Shout-outs for Monica an Nisha for coming out and rocking the purple dresses Sunday night! We know they are truly down for a themed event! I would of rocked purple too but I couldn’t find anything that didn’t make me look like a shapely glass of grape kool-aid, loll.
